چکیده

Kappa Bence Jones proteinuria was found by immunoelectrophoretic techniques in a patient with plasma cell leukemia, who presented with no M-proteins either in serum or urine. However, a significant decrease in normal immunoglobulins was observed. On microscopic examination of kidney sections obtained a autopsy, protein casts were seen in the distal tubules. Bence Jones protein was not detected by the conventional heat test.

میلوم IgD

IgD myeloma is very rate. It differs from multiple myeloma of other classes in several aspects and its laboratory diagnosis may be difficult, as total plasma protein concentration is often normal, and a paraprotein peak may not be easily demonstrable by the conventional electrophoretic techniques. We report here two cases of IgD myeloma investigated in this laboratory. Immunochemical, biochemic...

Studies of Bence Jones Proteins by Immunonephelometry*t

Plasma cell dyscrasia is a disease caused by a monoclonal population of plasma cells. Most often the workup for this disease is prom pted by the appearance of a paraprotein in serum, but a significant num ber of cases exhibit only a Bence Jones protein. Immunofixation electrophoresis is the most sensitive m ethod presently used for identifying Bence Jones protein uria. This methodology is labo...

Monoclonal Gammopathy of Undetermined Significance with Metastatic Carcinoma – A Rare Presentation

The presence of a low level of M protein in the peripheral blood <3gm/dl which is below the required cut off for the diagnosis of plasma cell myeloma is known as monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS). Elevated levels of serum M protein and detection of M band on serum protein electrophoresis (SPE) can occur in chronic diseases not related to B cell disorders and not always d...

Historical Note What’s in a name? Bence Jones protein

Plasma cell disorders are important in the differential diagnosis of acute kidney injury and of renal impairment with proteinuria. One or more of several mechanisms can be involved, such as cast nephropathy, deposition of monoclonal immunoglobulins, formation of amyloid fibrils, hypercalcaemia, hyperuricaemia and a variety of tubular syndromes. Various tests, such as serum electrophoresis and i...
